Georgian Media and Citizens’ Informed Choice

Description: In order to raise the level of Georgian electorate’s political awareness before the 2008 presidential and parliamentary elections and help the media (especially the regional media) in covering these elections adequately, the CSS in cooperation with the Civic Development Institute and Georgian Regional Media Association implicated the project “Georgian Media and Citizen’s Informed Choice”. In order to reach the abovementioned goals the following activities were implemented in the scope of the project: establishment and maintenance of journalists’ network; trainings of the regional journalists; researches of the political issues (results were used by the journalists for their professional activities) and coordinated media coverage of the 2008 presidential and parliamentary elections from almost all region of Georgia. The project started on September 1, 2007 and ends on November 30, 2008 and includes 10 target towns: Lagodekhi, Akhalcikhe, Gurjaani, Gori, Kutaisi, Ozurgeti, Kharagauli, Batumi, Foti and Zugdidi; Journalists from each of these regions will be able to participate in the project.
